Study questions:  Okin, "Political Liberalism, Justice, and Gender"

1.  Okin argues that Rawls' liberal theory encounters difficulties regarding issues arising in
the family--especially gender equality.  What problems does she think the family--or
certain kinds of families or religious traditions--raise for Rawls' view?

2.  Despite these problems, Okin argues that Rawls' theory holds out promise for dealing
with gender inequality.  How does she explain this?  How does she think we can use
'justice as fairness' to understand and address the injustice of gender inequality?
