Study questions:  Rachels Chpts. 7 and 8 (Utilitarianism)

1.  According to utilitarianism, what is the one thing that is good for its own sake?  From this
account of the good, how does the theory develop an account of morally right action?

2.  Explain what you think is the strongest objection against utilitarianism.  How might a
defender of the theory try to respond to this objection?  Is there a response that is
       adequate to dismiss the objection?
