Revised Assignment  Options


As announced in class, I am adding a second alternative regarding course assignments in addition
the original one stated in the syllabus.  This second alternative has the effect of making the 3rd essay
optional.  Grades in the course will thus be determined according to one of the following two options:

Option 1:  Original Plan (as stated in the syllabus)

       --Assignments are 3 essays (20%, 25% and 25%, respectively) and the final exam (30%)

Option 2:  2-Essay Plan:

       --Assignments are 2 essays (33% each) and the final exam (34%)

Note that the final exam is required on each plan.  Should you choose not to write a 3rd essay,
you will automatically be graded according to Option 2.  If you do submit a 3rd essay, you may
use either Option 1 (all 3 essay scores plus the final exam) or Option 2 (your two best essays plus the
final exam).  I will use the option that benefits you the most.
