Preferences for Older Palm OS

Buttons

  • Allows you to select an application and change the button.
  • Pen at the bottom of the screen allows you to select an action when the pen is moved upward across the whole screen. Options include:
    • Graffiti Help (default)
    • Backlight
    • Keyboard
    • Turn Off & Lock
    • Beam Data
Digitizer Calibrates the touch pad and your use of the stylus.

Formats Selects the way you want time, date, numbers, country and start of week set.

General Sets time, date, auto-off (after inactivity), various sound, system and alarm choices. This is where you can turn your beam receive on and off.

Modem Sets your modem settings if you have one.

Network Select the type, username, password and phone number of the network to be used with the palm.

Owner Place to put personal information and perhaps the clause, "Reward for Return".

Preferences for Newer Palm OS

Buttons

  • Allows you to select a button from the bottom of the Palm (Date Book, Address, To Do List, Note Pad) and switch it to open a different application. You can also switch the default on the calculator button on the screen. Just click on the arrow key by the name of the program and then select a different program.
  • Pen at the bottom of the screen allows you to select an action when the pen is moved upward across the whole screen. Options include:

    • Keyboard
    • Turn Off & Lock
    • Beam Data
  • HotSync at the bottom of the screen allows you to switch the default for the button on the modem/cradle from HotSync to some other program. (I don't know why you'd want to do this...-- Jenny)
Connection Select the type of connection to use between your palm and other devices such as phone, modem or PC.

Date & Time Sets the date, time, time zone and daylight savings status.

Digitizer Calibrates the touch pad and your use of the stylus.

Web Clipping A service provided by newer palms to allow the downloading of web pages. You will need to install the software on your desktop computer to make this work.
