Welcome to Pak Laboratory Web Site

Research interests in Pak Laboratory consist of the preparation and study of non-natural nano- to meso-scale materials.  We develop and utilize modern synthetic methods for the preparation of novel materials with technologically important properties.  Some of the desired properties include (semi-)conductivity, photo- and electro-luminescence, and nonlinear optical (NLO) activities. Although these properties seem quite different from each other, they are closely related in and can be achieved in materials called “semi-conductors.”  The materials that we are interested in can be divided into three categories based on their compositions: Organic, Inorganic, and Organic-Inorganic Hybrid.  Upon the preparation of these materials, we collaborate closely with other chemists, physicists, and engineers to design, construct and study the devices containing our materials.  We envision that the preparation and fundamental understanding of these materials will eventually contribute to the development of next generation solar cells, light emitting diodes, opto-electric sensors, and other devices.
