BIHYAA’ TSIINA’

(A Recipe for Sweet Potatoes)

1.    Maitenga sogo'ga dedahoo'datsi, bia waigihku.

                (Make a large open pit in the ground, outside)

2.    Dedahoodape ba'an gotoo'.

                (Make a fire inside the pit.)

3.    Wahyandi gutu'gihwaka, 

        gutuhuubita aingabin naakwahka.

                (After the fire has burned out,

                 the charcoal will become red.)

4.    Bihyaa'tsiina' guutuhuubin gaba da'hna.

        (Tin Foil gaba noondea bihyaa'tsiina'a

        magwandubi'ishe.)

                (Place sweet potatoes in the coal.)
                (Tin foil can be used to wrap the
                sweet potatoes.)

5.   Watsewiseemono manegitemando'ainge

        minutes daa nakika,

        bihyaa'tsiina gwase'kwandu'i.

                (Leave the sweet potatoes in the coals

                 for 45 minutes.)

6.    Bihyaa'tsiina'a heetsa'wehwaka,

        u deka'hwandu'i.
                (Let the sweet potatoes cool. Then enjoy!)
