Aztec Newenee’ detehan naakandee’.

 

The Aztecs were very poor.

 

 

Sudeen noo hagatu nanna yengadee’.

 

They just wandered around.

They came from the North and traveled South.

 

 

California binnai Mexico-tun, sodee’ Aztecaneen’gimmannu.

 

From behind California through Mexico the Aztec came.

They roamed all over.

They arrived at Texcoco lake in 1168.

Next to Texcoco are two huge mountains.

They are called Popatepetl (Smoking Mountain) and Ixtaccihuatl (White Lady).

They are over 17,000 feet above sea level.

He is an important chief, and "Ixta" is his beautiful princess in Indian legend.

The Aztecs lived on their islands where the other tribes could not get to them.

The Aztecs believed that Huitzilopochtli was their Sun God and their War God.

He was their strongest protecting spirit.

Way back when this earth was created, someone told the Aztecs,
