Project 3 – Probability and Statistics Standards
Read Standards #11 on page A25 and #10 and #11 on page A28-29.
Write a paper (less than 3 pages) answering the following questions
regarding these standards. You may address the questions in any order
you feel is reasonable for the flow of your paper.

Give some specific examples of how the concepts we studied in Chapters
9 and 10 relate to these standards and how the standards for grades 5-8
differ from those for grades K-4.

Do you feel adequately prepared to teach the concepts listed under these
standards? Why or why not? Give 3 specific examples of what
you could do if you did encounter a topic in which you were unsure of your
preparation or could not answer a question a student asked.

What are the titles of 2 other standards listed on pages A23-29 that are
connected to the probability and statistics standards you read? (Include
at least 1 from the Grades 1-4 standards and at least 1 from the Grades
5-8 standards.) Give specific examples of how each is connected to
probability and statistics.
Your grade will be based mainly on content (i.e. the depth and originality
of the points you make, explanations you give, and conclusions you draw).
Keep in mind that the content conveyed is influenced strongly by the quality
of the writing, which includes organization, clarity, sentence structure,
spelling, and grammar. Your grade will also depend on following the
guidelines above.
