The best way to prepare for an exam is to actually take one under the same circumstances as the real thing, just as musicians do dress rehearsals, football players play scrimmages, athletes in general train under conditions similar to those they will compete in, etc.

• Compile an exam from the questions below by writing out the problems on slips of paper and shuffling the papers.  (Review 7 is on pages 497-498, Review 8 is on pages 541-543, and Section 7.6 etc. refer to homework exercises at the end of the sections.)
• Take the exam with a time limit of about 65-70 minutes with no books or notes available and no distractions.  (The actual exam will be shorter than this of course.)
• Study further the material you had difficulty with and analyze your test taking strategies using the handout.  (Use suggested homework problems for extra practice.)

Take a second sample exam in the same way and work on improvement.
