Brief Calculus I, Math 160 - Section 3

• Organize and write your work neatly in a single column, staple pages, and remove ragged edges. 
• Use graph paper for all graphs on homework.
• Always label the function as well as scales, meaning, and units on the axes of a graph.
• Whenever you use a graph on your calculator to help solve a problem, draw the graph you used on your homework paper.
• Little or no credit will be given, even for a correct answer, without supporting mathematical work and complete, clear explanations.
• If the answer has a physical interpretation, you must describe in words what it means and include units; 5-10 percent of each homework score will be based on doing this consistently.
• Brief answers like in the back of the text are not acceptable as complete solutions and should be consulted only after you have worked hard to complete the problem yourself to be most beneficial.
• Make a list of questions that arise and ask these during class, office hours, or at the Math Center.
• Check your work, by hand or with a calculator.  Do not become dependent on the calculator, especially for routine calculations that can be done more quickly by hand.
  
• Work extra problems for additional practice and (without the book and with a time limit) to prepare for exams.
