This is an example of a laboratory requisition form that has been adapted for the online learning environment. The requisition is delivered through ISU's learning management system, MOODLE, in an activity called a Forum. From within the forum both students and teachers can ask questions and post comments and answers. There is an asynchronous (online) dialog between the teacher and the student to move through the clinical processes.

Online students are asked to review the requisition and report any irregularities. They are asked to think about what pathogens they would expect to see, and what they would look like on the microscopic exam.

After commenting on the requisition students are asked to examine the thick and thin smears. The images are representative of the direct exams that would normally be seen in the clinical lab. They are also linked to slideshows to illustrate the different slide fields for the direct exams. After reviewing the images students are to report the results of the smears for the presence of any parasites and ask any questions for clarification.

Students are to post their final report to the MOODLE Forum.
