KwaZulu-Natal Programme for Survivors of Violence These are Friends in South Africa. Their work is primarily with Zulu and Xhosa communities that are victims of the Apartheid. The bead was made in Venice, probably in the mid 1700s. This type of bead was widely traded in Africa, hence the common name "African Trade Bead."

The Waseskun Network These are First Nations Friends in Canada. Their work is primarily with men who have been in corrections. This is a French Ambassador Bead, given by visiting French traders as a gift of respect to tribal headmen. The most interesting aspect of this bead is that it is made of clear glass. This was a difficult affect to achieve prior to the time of thermostat controlled heat to melt the glass.

Alaska Native Knowledge Network. The Alaska Native Knowledge Network is designed to serve as a resource for compiling and exchanging information related to Alaska Native knowledge systems and ways of knowing. It has been established to assist Native people, government agencies, educators and the general public in gaining access to the knowledge base that Alaska Natives have acquired through cumulative experience over millennia.

 Arctic Social Science: Accident Claims Lives of Researchers in Russian Far East. This is an article about Bill Richards, and his colleagues.  Bill introduced many of us to the need to understand the Arctic.  He literally gave his live "for the healing of our people."

Arctic Studies Center. This Web feature provides information about representative projects in the Arctic Social Sciences. The included stories are samples from more than 100 projects supported by the Arctic Social Sciences Program of the National Science Foundation.  

Cherokee Images. Tribal Art by Ken Masters. This site has legends and pottery done by a Cherokee Tribal Member.

Indian Health Services  Native American resources on the Internet.

Native American Rights Foundation. The Native American Rights Fund (NARF) is the non-profit legal organization devoted to defending and promoting the legal rights of the Indian people. NARF attorneys, most of whom are Native Americans, defend tribes who otherwise cannot bear the financial burden of obtaining justice in the courts of the United States.

Aboriginal Corrections Publications. This Canadian Government site has a variety of documents including, A Survey Of The Administration Of Justice Respecting The Inuit Of Northern Quebec.

Resources for the Study of Discrimination against Native Americans. This site has a wide variety of information about Arctic history, culture and science. This is a very deep site with a variety of positions represented.

Association Of American Indian Physicians. AAIP is dedicated to improving the health status of American Indian and Alaskan Native people, training Indian physicians and other Indian health professionals, and furthering policies which affect Indian health. AAIP also fosters collaboration between western medicine and traditional Indian / Native medicine. AAIP was founded in 1971 by 13 Indian physicians who wanted to provide a forum to discuss Indian health issues and to increase the number of Indian physicians.
