Recap of the Spring 2008 Fit-n-PHAT coming soon!
What is Fit-n-PHAT?
Fit-n-PHAT is a 8-week (March 5th through April 30th) program designed to help participants make informed choices on living a healthy lifestyle and achieving healthy weight loss.
Based loosely from the hit reality TV series, The Biggest Loser, Fit-n-PHAT includes a series of fitness challenges, educational sessions, resources, and skills on healthy living for up to eighteen ISU students who will compete in teams and against one another for sweet incentives, including a grand prize of a $350 Idaho State University Federal Credit Union Visa Gift Card.
Why the Fit-n-PHAT program?
- ISU students reported an average Body Mass Index (BMI) of 26.3 (in 2005) and 26.6 (in 2007), both considered overweight*
- Almost 50% of ISU students surveyed are considered overweight or obese*
- Only 1 in 3 students reported consuming 3 or more servings of fruits and vegetable daily*
- Less than 40% of students meet the American College of Sports Medicine’s Physical Activity Guidelines of 30 minutes of moderate physical activity 3 to 5 days/week*
