Steps for using VA Educational Benefits
1. Apply to Idaho State University
To apply, go to our online application or fill out a paper applicaton and send it to:

2. Submit an application for VA Education Benefits

If you choose to submit a paper application, you can give it to a veterans representative at ISU or send it to: Department of Veterans Affairs VA Regional Office P.O. Box 8888 Muskogee, OK 74402-8888 |

It takes 6-10 weeks for the VA to determine your eligibility. If you are eligible for benefits, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility that you then provide to a veterans representative at ISU.
3. Contact a Veterans' Representative
Contact a veterans representative to discuss your degree plan.
4. Register for classes
Register for classes using ISU's student portal. To see what classes are available, view ISU's list of online classes.
5. Submit a Veterans Educational Benefits form
If you want to receive Veterans Educational Benefits, you must complete and submit a Veterans Registration Form after you register for classes. Bring or send your completed form to your Veterans' Sanctuary Ambassador.
Note: You must fill out this form EVERY SEMESTER.
6. Verify your attendance
The last day of each month call: 1.800.823.2378 or go online to www.gilbill.va.gov. You are paid based on your attendance, so if you receive payments, but do not attend class the VA may place you in overpayment.
