Graphic Identity Standards

What is Graphic Identity?

Idaho State University and its units send out thousands of brochures, postcards, posters, letters and other printed and promotional materials each year. These materials are an important part of the University's marketing efforts. Unfortunately the effectiveness of these materials is diluted when each college, department or unit creates its own signature style. Neither the University nor the individual unit benefits from a fragmented approach to marketing and public communications. For this reason, Idaho State University has developed an integrated marketing plan designed to unify the University's marketing and communications efforts. Important to this marketing plan are the Graphic Identity Standards outlined on this web site.

Graphic identity is the use of logos, colors, fonts, and graphic styles to create a recognizable and consistent image of an organization. Adherence to the Graphic Identity Standards will showcase ISU as a cohesive whole, rather than a collection of unrelated units. Audiences will also be able to instantly identify materials from Idaho State University. In a successful graphic identity program, the public becomes so familiar with the organization's graphic identity, that it can identify the organization even if its name is removed from the materials.

For Idaho State University's Graphic Identity Standards to be successful, it is vital for all university units to follow the guidelines. Through dedicated use of the Graphic Identity Standards, Idaho State University will present a consistent and professional image to the many publics it serves.
