The Idaho State University, Students' Community Service Center mission is to serve the region and beyond by connecting students, faculty, and staff with service opportunities that address needs which have been identified by each community, provide real learning experiences for those serving and for those being served, and that result in positive outcomes for the greater good. Beyond volunteerism, community action and civic engagement, encourage student volunteers and community members to engage in advocacy that leads to positive social change for underserved populations; both human and non-human.

Our Philosophy: The Community Voice

Since our inception in fall of 1988, we adopted the philosophy that we will serve the community by listening to the “community voice.”  This means that rather than making a decision about what can and should be done, we ask agencies in need of assistance, how we can best help.

We can and will find opportunities for student groups/classes on a given day and time, as sometimes that is necessary and volunteers are always needed. We prefer that groups ask what is needed before making a decision on an agency or time to volunteer if possible.
