On May 12, 2006, the TRiO office hosted a small ceremony for our Student Support Services graduates. Students were awarded with a certificate of completion and had their picture taken in their caps and gowns. We are so proud of all of our graduates and hope to have many more in the future! Congratulations grads on all of your dedication and effort! |

For TRiO Day this year, our office decided to organize a service project our students could participate in with their parents. Upon hearing a need, TRiO decided to make fleece blankets to donate to the local homeless night shelter, Aid For Friends, located in Pocatello. We are grateful to the local businesses who gave us a discount on material: Wal-Mart, The Fabric Place, and Crafts and Frames. With the fleece, we were able to make 16 double sided blankets and 19 scarves to donate. Also, one of our students made hats and a purse to donate to the shelter. Perhaps the most amazing aspect of our project was that we were able to complete the blankets in one hour! With a turnout of over 30 students and parents, tying blankets was a breeze. We'd like to express our thanks to all the students and parents who joined us in this service project. Without them, it would have never been as successful as it was. We'd also like to thank Chris Peirsol from Aid For Friends for accepting our donation and joining us for the project. |
