How to register for Craftshop classes:

To be registered for a class the class fee must be paid. You may register at the Craft Shop in person or by phone, then send your fees through the mail. Minimum registration must be met 24 hours before the class is to begin or the class will be canceled. Some classes require a membership. Membership fees should be paid at the Craft Shop the evening of the first class. Memberships are not refundable.

Refund Policy: Class fees will be refunded 100% if notice of cancellation is given 5 days prior to the first meeting of the class. NO refunds thereafter. Class fees will be refunded 100% if the class is canceled.

Spring Classes 2013

Class fee includes day-use fee for class times only. Day-use or memberships can be purchased for additional days. Class sizes are limited, so early enrollment is encouraged. To be registered for a class, the class fee must be paid. You may pay the fee in person at the Craft Shop. Minimum registration must be met 24 hours prior to the first class or it may be canceled. You will be notified of any cancelations and your fee will be refunded.

 

Beginning Pottery

Students will learn the basics of throwing. Students will learn various decoration techniques. They will also develop skills that will enable them to create stable and aesthetic pieces. This class concentrates on the feel of centering and throwing.

Intermediate Pottery

This class is designed for students who have taken beginning throwing and would like to expand their skills. Refining basic forms and adding details such as lids, handles, and foot rings will be emphasized.

Beginning Stained Glass I

Date: 1/28 – 3/11 Monday

Beginning Stained Glass II

Students will learn the basics of stained glass through pattern layout, glass cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering. Projects will be completed using both foil and lead cane methods. The instructor will call you a week before the first class to discuss materials so you will have time to purchase them before the first class.

Glass Bead Making I

Date: 1/30 – 2/20 Wednesday

Glass Bead Making II

This class will teach the art of wound glass bead making without investing a lot of time. In four, two hour classes, students will use a torch to melt glass, which is then shaped into unique beads.

Using willow for the frame, a small dream catcher will be made to learn basic weaving techniques and then ornamentation will be added.
Raku Firing4/27 Sat. 11: - doneBy the piece
“Raku” is a fast, low temperature firing method that produces bright, flashy colors for non-functional pottery. Shelf space will be shared with others throughout the firing. Pieces will need to be bisqued and glazed prior to the firing. Make sure to ask for the Raku glazes at the Craft Shop.

Basic Bike Repair/ Maintainance/Nico Brilmeyer4/11 Thur. 6: - 7:$10
Preventative maintenance is one way to avoid the need for expensive repairs. Learn how to check for wear and see that adjustable parts are properly set. Changing and repairing a flat tire will be demonstrated. Tools and bike stands are provided. Bring your own bike and bike manual if available.
Paper Marbling / Joann Crane3/9 Sat. 10: - 3:$25
This process of paper decoration creates beautiful designs. By dropping colored dyes onto a gelatinous base and then drawing through those colors with instruments such as combs and rakes, marbled designs are made. These designs are then transferred to the paper.
