Seek alumni to work with students and department employees on a weekly basis.
Hours Requested: Five hours any day or time of the week
Job Description: Provide assistance creating accessible textbooks and other class-related materials. Volunteer alumni will assist staff in scanning, editing, and converting printed books and documents in to accessible electronic.
Training: Special skills required (person must have strong computer skills and a detail-oriented mind-set).
10-15hrs pre-training necessary to properly train how to scan books and convert to accessible text using optical character recognition and editing software.
Need: Current staff does not have time to properly create accessible texts. Any assistance from alumni volunteers will improve the service we provide.

Job Description: We would be happy to have volunteers help with any gender-related project that is of interest to them including:
- Our signature events (The Art of Gender in Everyday Life Multidisciplinary Conference, Take Back the Night, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, and Women’s History Month).
- Other annual events (Heart Health and Dating Violence Awareness Month, both in February; Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October; and special days such as Positive Body Image, late February/early March; National Coming Out Day, October 11;Transgender Day of Remembrance in November; and World AIDS Day, December 1).
- Any gender-related event that they might be interested in implementing
Tasks will vary depending upon which event the volunteer may be involved.
Training: No pre-training required; however, we ask that volunteers approach their work with us from a gender equity framework. Please view our website to better understand who we are and what we do.
Need: In order to accomplish the high volume of programming that we do throughout the course of the year, we can always use an extra pair of hands! For students, and our student employees in particular, working with alumni/ae will give them the opportunity to see that following graduation, continued activism through committed service is a possibility and can make a difference!

Job Description: Alumni volunteers will be utilized during events such as the Career Fair and to help develop an alumni mentor/shadowing program.

Need: We simply could use the help and alumni are a dedicated source.

Hours Requested: Any hours on Wednesday afternoon
Job Description: Advisory Board Member: Community Representative (voting member). Must be independent of employee, student or user status of ISU or the ELC. Board acts in an advising capacity for the Center and to the Director on an issues or concerns presented. Board also oversees fundraising for the Center.
Training: No special skills or pre-training required. Would prefer someone with background and involvement in child development or finances.
Need: The Community Representative position on our Board is difficult to fill. Alumni would bring an understanding of ISU to the Board as well as a community perspective.

Seek alumni to work with students and public in the afternoon monthly/annually.
Hours Requested: Two hours any day of the week
Job Description: Alumni volunteers with web design, marketing and promotion skills, experience with fundraising efforts, newsletter layouts and database administration are sought.
Training: Experience required with no pre-training
Need: At this time, ISU does not have an international alumni database, nor do we target our international alumni for any events. We need to change this. IPO has started an unofficial data collection database, but overall we need to develop the infrastructure in order for gift giving and international recruitment to take place.

Job Description: Alumni volunteers will be involved in the planning of a "Leadership Week" to be held a few weeks into the fall semester.
Training: No special skills or pre-training required
Need: We would especially like input from alumni who have been in leadership roles and have some insights about what they perceive as important areas of development for student leaders.

Seek alumni to work with students, department employees, and public in the mornings/afternoons on a weekly basis.
Hours Requested: Four hours any day of the week
Job Description: Volunteer RN or LPN may assist with the patient assistance program, obtaining vital signs on patients, filing charts, marketing, and campus outreach. Would have to abide by HIPAA privacy and security rules to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Training: Special skills required (up-to-date clinical skills are necessary – specifically nursing/medical profession).
Four hours pre-training necessary for clinic orientation and training.
Need: Volunteers could assist with patient load and management thereby possibly reducing waiting room time. Volunteers could also be utilized for marketing strategies.

Seek alumni to work with students and department employees to help with annual event.
Hours Requested: Two hours on a Sunday evening
Job Description: Alumni volunteers are needed to assist in providing a Finals Breakfast for students on the Sunday night prior to finals week. Job includes setting up event, cooking food, serving food, and cleaning up. This is an event that occurs each semester on the Sunday evening before finals start.
Training: No special skills or pre-training required
Need: By having alumni volunteer at the Finals Breakfast, we can provide encouragement and support to students who are furthering their education. The alumni can be role models of success and can encourage students to continue the hard work, even through the last week.
Seek alumni to work with students in the evenings on a monthly basis.
Hours Requested: One to two hour(s) any day of the week
Job Description: Resident Assistant Programs (throughout the school year): The RA’s host monthly events for their residents throughout the course of the school year. Alumni can become involved in these programs. The programs themselves have a very broad range and are, for the most part, up to the individual RA’s. The RA’s, however, could use extra help in the setting up and exercising of these events. Responsibilities will vary with each event but will not be too extensive.
Training: No special skills or pre-training required
Need: By having alumni volunteer in the Resident Assistant’s Programs, they can help directly influence students. Their help will make the RA’s job easier, while making each program a better experience and guidance for students. These events are meant to be fun and interactive. The students can build great social networks with each other and the alumni. These programs also allow students to apply the alumni learned experiences to their own lives. The programs themselves are enjoyable for all those involved.
