A One-Day Workshop for NASPA Region V, at Idaho State University, Pocatello, ID, with remote locations at the College of Southern Nevada and Central Washington University

This workshop will focus on building an assessment culture in a Division of Student Affairs. In particular, the workshop will present an overview of assessment and the assessment process in a division of student affairs. Specific aspects of assessment work in Student Affairs will be focused upon in more depth throughout the workshop. These include: developing and refining learning outcomes, building buy-in, use of mapping techniques, and issues involved in collaborating with academic programs and faculty. The workshop will be lead by Rebecca Sanderson, Ph.D., Director of Student Affairs Research and Evaluation, Oregon State University.
Goals for the Workshop:
- Participants will become familiar with a model for successful assessment with wide buy-in in a division of student affairs
- Participants will work with learning outcomes and develop skills for refining those outcomes
- Participants will have examples and tools to use to map aspects of the assessment process
- Participants will uncover methods for engaging faculty in collaborative work
Details:
The workshop will be from 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:15pm – 4:30pm (times are one hour earlier for Pacific time) with 45 minutes for lunch.
