Mosque Committee Charter: Term 2000
Objective: To maintain the
mosque and manage the related activities for the Muslim community of Southeastern
Idaho.
Structure: The committee will
be consisted of four members (president, secretary, treasurer and coordinator).
The full term of the committee will be one calendar year. The selection
of the new members and assignment of their responsibilities will be decided
by the existing committee members.
The roles and responsibilities of
the members will be as follows:
President [Abdul K. Khan]: Maintains the
mosque and facilitate the functions of the committee. Makes assignment
to the committee members. Shares the management of the account and bill
payments with the treasurer. Assigns responsibility of the chair to
one of the members in his/her absence.
Secretary [Asad M.Chaghtai]: Performs the administrative
duties and helps the president. Sets the prayer times, arranges for
imam (prayer leader) and maintains liaison with other organizations.
Arranges for the quarterly committee meeting. Communicates with other
members and Muslims of the community.
Treasurer [Ahmad Zadah]: Collects donations
and keeps balance sheet. Shares and manages accounts and bill payments
with the president. Publishes the account status before the first Friday
prayer of each calendar month. Conducts audit once a year (preferably
in December) and discloses the account information to the Muslim community
of Southeastern Idaho.
Coordinator [Mohammad Zaidi]: Organizes
religious and social events. Coordinates weekly or monthly get-together.
Helps organize the post Eid parties.
Major activity and decision must have
committee's approval. Each member will have one vote. In case of tie in
the voting process, the president will cast an additional tie-breaking
vote.
Meeting:
The members will meet quarterly and the secretary will keep minutes of
the meetings.
Updating the Charter:
The charter can be updated with the approval of the committee. Any disagreement
will be decided through voting process.
