IDEA Program

As a member of a Student Organization, you are doing work outside the classroom to expand your college experience. Now you can gain recognition for all the work you are doing with your involvement in your Student Organization! The IDEA Program is a way for you to track your campus involvement outside of the classroom to show to future employers or graduate schools.

The ISU IDEA Program (Individual Development through Educational Activities) is designed to help Idaho State University students become well-rounded. The IDEA Program is based on a commitment to support the overall learning community at ISU, both inside and outside the classroom through co-curricular educational activities in the following nine dimensions:

* Values & Ethics                  * Interpersonal                       * Creativity

* Intellectual                            * Emotional                            * Health & Wellness

* Citizenship                          * Cultural                                 * Life & Career Planning

As an involved student at ISU you realize that your academic transcript does not adequately represent your collegiate experience. The IDEA Program provides you with a co-curricular transcript which lists your out-of-class activities (like your participation and leadership in a Student Organization). This transcript can be included with your resume for job searches or sent to prospective graduate schools to highlight your involvement outside the classroom.

The IDEA Program also develops the personal characteristics that employers seek in job candidates, as well as help to encourage a well-rounded educational experience. In addition, you are already paying for the program through your student fees, and you are doing the work through your campus involvement, so you might as well get credit!

If your organization would like to know more about how to become involved with the IDEA Program contact the Student Activities Center or the Student Organizations Advisor at 282-4588. They can do a presentation for your group detailing the benefits of the IDEA Program. They can also assign each member an IDEA Advisor to individually help towards their personal collegiate goals.
