Associated Students
of Idaho State University (ASISU)
ASISU is the sponsor for all student organizations at Idaho State
University. All registered clubs and organizations receive their funding
from ASISU. Therefore, it is important that you become familiar with ASISU,
its purpose, its members, and the role it will play in your student organization.
ASISU is funded by a $66.75/semester fee for students enrolled
in eight or more credit hours and a $7.00/hour semester fee for students
carrying less than eight credit hours. The ASISU Finance Committee, Senate,
and General Manager work together in allocating the revenue generated
from ASISU fees. Most registered clubs and organizations are eligible to
apply for funding from these fees.In addition to participating in programs
and events, each student is encouraged to use the services of ASISU through
membership in clubs and organizations.
The ASISU Student Government consists of representatives from all areas
of the University. Each spring, elections are held to select the ASISU
President and Vice President, College of Technology Student Body President
and Vice President, and the ASISU Senators for the following academic
year. These individuals, along with other appointees, represent the student
body. It is crucial that the needs and desires of the student body be
communicated to the administration. All students are welcome and urged
to become involved in the decision making process at ISU by participating
in student government.
The ASISU Ombudsman answers students’ questions about campus resources,
housing, issues concerning faculty, etc.The Ombudsman also advises students
about University processes (e.g. appeals), and serves as a student advocate
to support students throughout such processes. For comprehensive
explanation of each student’s privileges and obligations, one can read
the Student Code of Conduct, the ASISU Constitution, and/or the Student
Handbook. These documents were designed to make life easier for students
while attending ISU. These documents can be obtained without charge from
the ASISU office (Room 299 of the PSUB Hypostyle). The following documents
can also be obtained in the ASISU office: ASISU By-Laws, committee listings,
current committee members, ASISU Senate Resolutions, and the ASISU Senate
meeting minutes. Also check the web site: http://www.isu.edu/asisu

and student concerns, the ASISU President makes recommendations to the
University Administration, State Board of Education, State Legislature,
and other policy-making bodies. Every student organization is assigned
a senator to be their liaison to the ASISU Senate. This senator is the
