Aid For Friends

232-5669 - Organize a Fundraising Event (contact them for help with public relations)
- Collect and donate food, cleaning supplies, housing needs, personal hygiene items for adults and children
- Collect household items for “start-up” kits
- Individuals and Families moving out of the Shelter into their own home need assistance and a “start-up” kit will give them a boost. The kits could include mops, brooms, sponges and rags, cleaning supplies, dishes, pots, pans, small appliances, cooking and food supplies, linens, and towels.
- Prepare Dinner
- Call the Emergency Shelter to make arrangements for a specific night. This allows the staff to schedule the weekly meal menu.
- Volunteer for improvement projects for the Emergency Shelter
- Outdoor and Indoor projects
- Collect and Donate clothing that is clean, free of stains, and doesn’t need any mending.

- Scheduled Resident Activities- bingo, cooking groups, card parties, bible study
- Canteen- 2 to 4 hour shifts, open strictly on a volunteer basis
- Special Projects/Programs- Events to recognize our veterans- help is appreciated
- Entertainment- Groups or individuals can provide entertainment for the residents.
- Playing cards, board games, etc. with the residents- helps keep the boredom away and make our veteran’s lives a little more exciting.
- Take residents for a walk.
- Visit with the residents- family members often can’t be there as much as is needed to keep the residents from being lonely.
