About Tau Beta Pi - Idaho Beta Chapter

Beginnings

The Tau Beta Pi, Idaho Beta chapter was formally installed on January 17, 2004. At that time, eight ISU students were the first initiates into the new chapter. Prior to establishing this chapter, ISU maintained its own engineering honor society, Pi Beta Tau, established in 1994 by the ISU engineering faculty and local practicing engineers. Pi Beta Tau's consitution and bylaws were modeled after those of TBP. Leaders from ISU's Pi Beta Tau engineering honor society secured a charter from TBP at the 98th annual national TBP convention in Lubbock, Texas, in October 2003.

Idaho Beta Today

The Idaho Beta chapter today is deeply committed to advancing the goals of the ISU College of Engineering through service to the community. Proof of this is the tutoring program initiated by our Tau Beta Pi members, as well as the purchase of FE review manuals that will be made available through the library to all engineering students. The goals of the chapter are to continue growing and promoting the image of our club around campus and the community. In addition to this, our chapter plans to continue hosting District 12's annual conference and placing the name of Idaho State University as high as possible.
