Important Information for Teachers
To receive credit for an SSI course, you must:
- Indicate you wish credit on your registration form,
- Pay the $50 per credit hour ISU recording fee in addition to the workshop fee (also due to ISU), and
- Complete a test or an assignment as described in the course syllabus.
In an attempt to help fulfill your needs for professional development and continuing education, SSI and ISU have worked hard to make sure that SSI courses meet the requirements of the State Department of Education. Call Jerry Jensen, at Idaho Department of Education, certification office, at 332-6881 or email jbjensen@sde.idaho.gov with questions.
RE-CERTIFICATION. The September 1 deadline that may apply can be fulfilled by completing the course prior to that date. However, as transcripts for courses considered fall courses will not be available from ISU until December, SSI is happy to prepare an Acknowledgement of your completion of the course that may be submitted with your renewal application. You will need to replace that Acknowledgement with your official transcript when it is available.
DISTRICT REGULATIONS RE: TEACHER PAY. Each district sets their own pay schedule guidelines. Please obtain clarification from your district prior to enrolling in SSI courses to make sure that you will be within the guidelines and policies.
Fees and Policies
Workshop Fees:
Our courses are reduced fee courses and so we cannot accept other reductions or waivers.
All students pay a workshop fee. Each course has a “workshop or class fee” that is intended to cover all costs associated with a course. Because the costs are different for each course, these fees vary from $50 to $125 as noted in the catalog. Everyone who attends must pay the workshop or class fee. We are sorry but family members may not attend without paying a workshop fee.
Those wishing to receive credit for the course MUST pay the credit or recording fee as noted below.
Recording/Credit Fees:
All credit/recording fees are in addition to the workshop fee noted above. Credit-seeking students are required to submit a short assignment or to take a short test. We will provide information about the assignment or test in the syllabus and at the workshop. Payment of an additional $50 per credit hour recording fee is assessed for those seeking ISU credit. Fees are subject to change pending approval by the Idaho State Board of Education. Grades for the three sessions: spring, summer, and fall are generally posted in May, August, and December respectively. You may order transcripts from ISU after those dates on-line at http://transcripts.isu.edu or call ISU: 282-3336 for more information.
Note: Grades are not automatically sent to you. As noted in the information for teachers above, if you have a September 1 deadline, SSI can prepare an acknowledgement of your successful completion of the course – please ask. Courses completed prior to September 1 are valid for re-certification and in most cases, “lane changes”.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation and payment policies are established by Idaho State University. ISU does not refund recording fees. SSI can only refund the workshop fee portion and uses the following criteria for refunds:
