Sign Language Studies Minor

The Sign Language Studies minor is designed primarily for upper division students (juniors-seniors) who have related major (ELEM ED, FCS, CSED, SEC ED, SPED) and are not A.S. Degree seeking. Most will be continuing for a Master of Science in Deaf Education. The minor can be extended over 3 to 4 years. This minor of study is brief introduction to the language and culture of Deaf Americans and in no way prepare students to work as sign language interpreters. The Minor is offered on both of our traditional campuses: Pocatello and Meridian, ID.

In Addition to the ISU General Education objective requirements, the following classes are required:

CSED 1151/1151L American Sign Language I 4 credits
CSED 1152/1152L American Sign Language II 4 credits
CSED 2250/2250L Signing Seminar 4 credits
CSED 1125 Deaf Studies 1 credit
CSED 2205 Introduction to Communication Disorders 3 credits
