“Ever had the feeling that everyone around you goes Quack and you go Honk!?” Well, you are not alone. Community, Alumni, Theatre/Dance/Music ISU will be featuring the uplifting, frolicking, and timeless musical tale of the little duck that honked instead of quacked! Honk! is based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling,” and tells the story of an odd looking baby duck, Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his harrowing journey he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms.
Since it first hatched in 1993, George Stiles and Anthony Drewe’s musical Honk! has winged its way around the world in over 8000 productions and in many different languages. Honk! is a world-wide stage sensation that has been seen by over 5 million people. The musical has won multiple awards including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical (beating the Lion King and Mamma Mia for the prize). Through its fast pace, comedy, delightful songs, and endearing moments, Honk! is entertainment that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
