Congratulations to the Cast, Crew, and, Directors on another successful Summer Theatre production. Thank you patrons for your continued support of Theatre at ISU.
East versus West makes for a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting take of enormous fascination. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bankok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West, and he seeks Anna’s assistance in changing his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in a truly unique love story. Along with the dazzling score, audience members will delight in the incomparable ballet, “The Small House of Uncle Thomas."
The College of Arts & Letters and the School of Performing Arts at Idaho State University are very excited to bring this theatrical experience to SE Idaho. The focus of the annual summer theater production is to display the talents of the Southeastern Idaho community in conjunction with the Idaho State University community and resources. We are committed to producing work of serious artistic merit while providing family friendly entertainment, thus representing our local community at its best. This season’s cast is compromised of over 50 actors, singers, and dancers from all over South East Idaho.
