The faculty and students of SoPA are among the most visible members of the ISU community, and can often be found at functions and festivals well outside of their respective academic missions.
We travel all around the region to further artistic vision, and many of our faculty members are recognized in activities at both national and international levels. But it is at home, in Pocatello, Idaho, where we are most central to so many lives on a daily basis. Whether you are from Boise, Coeur d'Alene, or here in our own neck of the woods, we invite you to come experience what the School of Performing Arts has to offer.
Working Together.
Creating Opportunity.
Achieving Excellence.
The "SoPA," as we are colloquially referred to, maintains its presence in five buildings on the ISU campus, including the Stephens Center for the Performing Arts - arguably the finest collegiate facility in the West - where we present symphonic and concert performances, theatrical productions, and dance in world class facilities.
Our named performance spaces include the Jensen Grand Concert Hall, the Bistline Round, Rogers Black Box, and Bileyu Proscenium theatres, and even Caccia field at Holt arena, home to the Bengal Marching Band.
In the School of Performing Arts, the music, theatre, and dance programs continually produce a large number of shows and group performances. We strive for excellence, provide first-hand training, and will give you an opportunity to shine on-stage.
The School of Performing Arts offers a diverse curriculum. It fosters creativity, will build your experience, and give you an opportunity to succeed in your area of expertise. At ISU, we also employ some of the top educators in the state.
