Berry Goldwater Scholarship
Attention! Sophomores & Juniors Majoring in Science, Math, or Engineering
The Goldwater Scholarship is the nationís premier merit-based scholarship for high-achieving undergraduates interested in a research career in a STEM field. It provides up to $7,500 per year for undergraduate educational expenses. Sophomores and juniors majoring in mathematics, sciences, and engineering who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents in good academic standing (typically having a minimum 3.5 GPA) are eligible to apply. Idaho State University will nominate up to four candidates through an internal competition.
Internal applications are due Monday, December 9, 2013 (5 PM MST)
Application materials should be sent via email to Dr. Pak (firstname.lastname@example.org)
- Nominee Essay. This essay should be no more than two pages. It should be written by the student, relate to the student's chosen career, and demonstrate strong evidence of the studentís potential to contribute to scientific research. Goldwater scholars are expected to pursue advanced degrees in a STEM field.
- Unofficial Transcript. The transcript should include the studentís fall semester schedule if available.
- Transcript(s) from other institutions that the nominee attended. They should include grades for courses taken.
- Recommendation Letters. Three recommendation letters should be sent directly to Dr. Pak by professors familiar with the nominee's work and research potential.
