Instructions for Contacting ISU Hazardous Waste Personnel

During Normal Business Hours:

  • Call (208) 282-2310
  • Ask for any available hazardous waste staff member.

If there is no answer:

  • Call (208) 282-1336
  • Ask for Director of Technical Safety and/or Staff

If there is still no answer, follow procedures for off-duty hours.

During Off-Duty Hours:

  • Call ISU Public Safety at (208) 282-2515.
  • Public Safety will reach ISU Hazardous Waste Personnel via emergency pagers and contact numbers.

Be prepared to provide a specific location (floor and room number), the building name/number and describe which chemicals are involved (if known).  Give as much information as possible to the responding person (including your name as a point of contact and a phone number, if possible).

  • Ask for any available Radiation Safety staff member.

If there is no answer:

  • Call (208) 282-1336
  • Ask for Director of Technical Safety and/or Staff

If there is still no answer, follow procedures for off-duty hours.

During Off-Duty Hours:

  • Public Safety will reach ISU Radiation Safety Personnel via emergency pagers and contact numbers.

During Normal Business Hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday):

  • Call (208) 282-2310
  • Ask for a hazardous waste staff member.

If there is no answer:

  • Call (208) 282-1336
  • Ask for Director of Technical Safety and/or Staff

If there is still no answer, follow procedures for off-duty hours.

During Off-Duty Hours:

  • Call ISU Public Safety at (208) 282-2515.

It is important to give as much information as possible to responding personnel. Be prepared to provide building name, building number, street address, specific location (floor and room number), and specific hazards involved.

If necessary, get yourself and others away & close the door. Then, take the following precautions if necessary:

  • Send someone to notify your Floor or Building Emergency Coordinator of the situation (this information should be posted near the stairs/exit doors of each floor).
  • Wait in a safe area until you are contacted by an Emergency Coordinator or Campus Safety Officer.
