Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) at ISU

The ISU Office of Research coordinates the Idaho State University EPSCoR projects. Watch this site for announcements about EPSCoR funding opportunities. Most EPSCoR proposals from ISU must be coordinated with the Office of Research.

EPSCoR is a program designed to enhance the science and engineering research capabilities of states that have traditionally received smaller amounts of federal research dollars. Seven federal agencies, National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, NASA, Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of Agriculture, and the National Institutes of Health, set aside research funds to help participating states build a high-quality, academic research base that will serve as a backbone of a scientific and technological (S&T) enterprise.

Idaho EPSCoR is led by a State Committee composed of 18 members with diverse professional backgrounds from both the public and private sectors and from all regions of the state.  The state committee reports to the State Board of Education via the Higher Education Research Council (HERC).  The Idaho EPSCoR office and the State of Idaho EPSCoR Project Director are located at the University of Idaho, and partner institutions are Boise State University and Idaho State University. Funding is provided through each agency according to specific guidelines. Some agencies require that proposals come through the state EPSCoR office, in a state-wide proposal, and others accept individual applications. More information on the various EPSCoR programs in Idaho is available at the Idaho EPSCoR website, http://www.webs.uidaho.edu/epscor/.
