For undergraduate students,

  • Graduation applications must be submitted no later than Friday of midterm week of the semester in which you plan to graduate.
  • For those wishing to graduate in August, applications must be submitted by the last day of the Spring semester.

To officially apply for graduation log into your BengalWeb account.

  • Click on the Academic Tools, then click the Apply to Graduate link under the Graduation Planning channel.
  • The online graduation application for each semester will be available via BengalWeb until Friday of mid-term week each semester and until the last day of Spring semester for August graduation.

Graduation Application Processing Fee

  • All candidates for graduation are required to pay a non–refundable $20.00 graduation application processing fee per degree and application.
  • Failure to pay the graduation fee may prevent the release of any transcripts you may order.

 

It is recommended you submitted your application for graduation at least one semester before your anticipated graduation date. Applying early ensures you will receive timely communications and information regarding graduation and Commencement.

In order to ensure your name and degree information will appear in the Commencement program and on your reader card for the Commencement ceremony, May and August graduates must apply by the Friday of midterm week of Spring semester, review the academic calendar for dates.

  • Transfer Work:
    • All pending transfer work and correspondence work must be reported to a Graduation Specialist at the time of application for graduation.
    • You must complete all coursework by the last day of the semester you wish to graduate.
    • Official transcripts with transfer work (including correspondence courses) must be received no later than four weeks after the date of graduation.
  • Incomplete Grades:
    • All incomplete (I) grades received in ISU courses must be cleared prior to posting of degrees for Undergraduate students.
    • Change of Grade forms must be received in the Office of the Registrar no later than two weeks after the date of graduation.
    • If you earn an incomplete grade in a course taken the semester you wish to graduate, please inform a Graduation Specialist so your graduation date can be moved to the a future semester.

 Resident Credit

  • Coursework completed at ISU is consider Resident Credit for graduation purposes.
  • Students earning an Associate Degree from ISU must complete a minimum of 16 credits in the major area of study, or 16 of the last 24 credits applied to the degree must be resident credit.
  • Of the last 50 credits applied to a bachelor’s degree, 32 must be Resident Credit.
  • Student earning a Baccalaureate must complete a minimum of 16 upper division Resident Credits in the major area of study.
  • At least 6 credits required for the minor must be Resident Credits.

Certain pre-professional curricula allow completion of the fourth year in a professional school. In these cases, the last 32 credits of work taken before transfer to the professional school must be Resident Credits, as defined above.

Resident credit for graduate programs is addressed in the Graduate Catalog.

Please note: Resident Credit is not synonymous with Idaho State residency definitions for tuition purposes. For further information, please see your academic advisor, program chair, or a Graduation Specialist in the Office of the Registrar.

Diploma Address

  • Diplomas will be mailed via the United States Postal Service first class mail to the address you indicated on your graduation application.
  • Updating your address on BengalWeb will not change where your diploma is mailed.
  • Notify a Graduation Specialist in the Office of the Registrar of any changes in your diploma mailing address as soon as possible. Once the information for your diploma is sent to our diploma printing vendor, the mailing address cannot be changed

Processing fee and Payment Options

  • Log in to your BengalWeb account and click on your Finances tab to view payment options.
  • Check or money orders should be made payable to Idaho State University.

High Honors/Honors

  • Students who secure minimum ISU grade point averages of 3.33 and also are in the top 10% of their respective college's graduating class graduate with honors. Those in the top 5% graduate with high honors.
  • The base for honors and high honors designations will be determined from every December's graduating class and will then be applied to December, May and August graduations.

Commencement Ceremony

Saturday, May 6, 2017

Time

Commencement Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and will run approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Place

Holt Arena, Pocatello Campus

Guests

Graduates may invite as many guests as they wish. No tickets are required.

Reception

Graduates and their family are cordially invited to attend a reception hosted by President Arthur C. and Dr. Laura Vailas immediately following the ceremony on the turf of Holt Arena.

Special Needs

Call Holt Arena Ticket office at (208) 282-4931. Seating for persons with special needs will be available. See an usher when you arrive at Commencement.

Photography

Professional photography will be provided by Lifetouch Photography. Pictures will be available to purchase online approximately three weeks after Commencement at https://events.lifetouch.com/idahostate.

Who

Those invited to attend the ceremony include all students with graduation dates of December 2016, May 2017, and August 2017 (undergraduate and graduate students).

Please apply for graduation no later than March 3, 2017 for May graduation and April 1, 2017 for August graduation.

Only students who have officially applied for graduation (terms listed above) by April 1, 2017 will have their name printed in the Commencement program. 

RSVP

NO RSVP is required at this time to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.

 

Commencement Ceremony Rehearsal

3:30 p.m. Rehearsal will run approximately 1 hour.

Holt Arena (on the turf), Pocatello Campus

Cap and Gown

Academic regalia (cap and gown) will be available for purchase at our Grad Finale event on Tuesday February 21 and Wednesday February 22 in the PSUB Ballroom, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

After that time, orders can be placed at the Bookstore or by calling them (208.282.3237).

The deadline to order regalia is April 1st.

Additionally; you can order class rings and announcements at Grad Finale or after the event at http://www.jostens.com/college/caps-and-gowns.html.
