It is the goal
of the university and ISU Public Safety to ensure that
the campus community is conscious of their own safety. ISU Public
Safety officers coordinate efforts with the Director of University
Housing, the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Health,
the Idaho Falls Center Director and local police Community Services
Offices to initiate educational programs in the areas of crime
prevention and safety awareness. This is accomplished through programs
such as Campus Watch, New Student Orientation, New Employee
Orientation, workshops, seminars, dorm meetings, newsletters and
pamphlets that target individual areas of concern.
Areas of concern include, but are not limited to, residential security,
personal property inventory, vehicle safety, alcohol and drug
awareness, personal safety, rape and acquaintance rape precautions,
domestic violence issues, and what to do if you cannot avoid the
occurrence of a problem.

you
take care of yourself. Check out our crime

to know what crimes are taking place in and around your campus.
Use
our crime prevention pages and safety tips to make your college
experience
a safer time for you. A few tips are listed below and links to
other
safety pages follow the tips.
You could be a victim
of an armed
robbery or a home invasion.
Lock your doors at all
times - even when
at home.
Invest in a portable
door alarm (Home
Depot/Lowes).
Dogs are great alarms.
Leave outside lights
on at night and
close your curtains.
Take a cab or, when on
campus, call for
a safety escort (Public Safety ext. 2515).
Avoid unpopulated and
poorly lit areas.
Be alert and cautious
of anyone
approaching you
Remember - Your guard
is down when
drinking alcohol.
