Dear Friend of Idaho State University:
The benefits of higher education that so many of us enjoy stem not only from the opportunities we've had to earn degrees, but from the opportunities others have had to do so as well.
The nurse at your doctor's office, your children's teachers, the business that employs you rely on individuals who were able to afford to further their educations.
In many cases, they were able to do so thanks to a scholarship generated by I Love ISU, the annual telephone fundraiser that depends on gifts from individuals like you.
For 26 consecutive years, community and business leaders in southeastern Idaho—many of them ISU alumni—have volunteered their time and energy to dial up a long list of individuals they hope will support scholarships for ISU students.
They began doing so again two weeks ago in Blackfoot. Last week they called in Idaho Falls, and this week they are calling Pocatello and American Falls. We hope you will respond with a gift that is guaranteed to help change lives.
Last year, gifts to I Love ISU reached a remarkable $390,000. The goal this year: $400,000. Given the generosity so many of you have shown in past years, I have no doubt we will reach or exceed that goal.
Most students who qualify for I Love ISU scholarship assistance are from southeastern Idaho. So it could be a student in your own neighborhood and community who benefits.
This fall semester, almost $210,000 in I Love ISU scholarships will be awarded. In spring 2008, we expect to award almost $207,000. In total, Idaho State University scholarships for 2008-09 are expected to exceed $11 million.
That is real money, and it affects real lives—lives that will be more enriched and more prepared to assume productive and creative roles in the economic, social and cultural life of Idaho.
I hope you will do part.
