Part 6. Student Affairs
Section IV. Classroom
M. Accomodation of Students with Disabilities
1. Compliance and Services
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the civil rights guarantee for persons with disabilities in the United States. It provides protection from discrimination for individuals on the basis of disability. The ADA extends civil rights protection for people with disabilities in matters which include transportation, public accommodations, accessibility, services provided by state and local government, telecommunication relay services, and employment in the private sector.
Idaho State University, in the spirit and letter of the law, will make every effort to make reasonable accommodations, according to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. ISU will not discriminate in the recruitment, admission, or treatment of students or employees with disabilities. Students who believe they qualify for services under the Act should contact The Office of Services for Students with Disabilities, Campus Box 8118, (208) 282-3599.
2. Grievance Procedures
Students who feel they have been discriminated against based upon a disability and wish to file a grievance shall file such complaints with the Affirmative Action Office. The investigative and grievance procedures established for acts of illegal discrimination shall apply.
