Part 6. Student Affairs
Section XI. Services to Students
E. Special Servicies (Tro Program)
Trio is a federally-funded student assistance program. Federal guidelines suggest that Trio services be directed to low-income students, first generation college students, or those who are physically disabled and have a need for special support while enrolled in an undergraduate program. Income is not the sole determinant of eligibility.
Eligible students may receive advice, counseling (academic, personal, financial and career), tutoring, orientation and general guidance and information. Students with disabilities have a variety of other services available to them including transportation, orientation about campus accessibility and assistance in arranging accommodating housing, classes, dependable attendants, aids and readers.
Also included in Trio are Upward Bound and Talent Search. Upward Bound helps prepare high school students for success in post-secondary institutions, and Talent Search recruits students to the post- secondary institutions of their choice.
