D. Alumni Association Awards

1. ISU Achievement Award

a. Purpose

The ISU Achievement Award recognizes personal actions, generosity and self-sacrifice on behalf of the University by a faculty or staff member.

b. Rules

(1) The selection committee is chaired by an Alumni Board member and consists of a classified employee, a professional employee, a current ISU student, a faculty member, and an alumni staff member serves as an ex officio.

(2) The activities for which the nominee is cited must not be a part of expected or regularly scheduled job duties.

(3) A nomination form must be completed on each candidate.

(4) Nominations will be purged every three years after notifying the nominator of the deadline.

(5) The award should be limited to one selection per year.

b. Criteria:

(1) University service above and beyond the call of duty.

(2) Level of community service.

(3) Contributions to occupational or professional organizations.

c. Tiebreakers:

(1) Interaction with students.

(2) Other (please specify).

2. Distinguished Alumnus/na Award

a. Purpose:

The Idaho State University Distinguished Alumnus/na Award is the highest award given. It is presented for exemplary professional or personal contribution resulting in national or international visibility.

b. Rules:

(1) The award should be limited to one selection per year, however, it is not mandatory to select a recipient each year.

(2) The selection committee is chaired by the President-Elect of the Alumni Board of Directors and four other members selected by the Alumni Office.

(3) The individual selected must be out of school at least ten years.

(4) The nominee must have attended at least one year at the Academy of Idaho, Albion Normal School, University of Idaho Southern Branch, Idaho Technical Institute, Idaho State College or Idaho State University.

(5) A nomination form must be completed on each candidate.

(6) Nominations will be purged every three years after notifying the nominator of the deadline.

c. Criteria:

(1) Contributions to the nominee’s chosen career/profession.

(2) Awards and special recognition received.

(3) Community and civic involvement.

d. Tie breakers:

(1) Contribution to the University (monetary, service, vocal good will)

(2) Nominee’s involvement while a student.

(3) Letters of support.

(4) Other (please specify).

3. William J. Bartz Award

a. Purpose: The William J. Bartz Award is presented to an individual who has supported the continued development of Idaho State University through personal actions, participation in University affairs and/or financial support.

b. Rules:

(1) The individual need not be an alumnus/alumna.

(2) The recipient cannot be a current ISU staff or faculty member.

(3) The Selection Committee is chaired by an Alumni Board member and four other members selected by the alumni office.

(4) The award should be limited to one selection per year.

(5) A nomination form must be completed on each applicant.

(6) Nominations will be purged every three years after notifying the nominator of the deadline.

b. Criteria:

(1) Contribution to the University (monetary, service, vocal goodwill).

(2) Continuous assistance or involvement over a prolonged period of time.

c. Tie breakers:

(1) Letters of support.

(2) Community and civic involvement.

(3) Awards and special recognition received .

(4) Other (please specify).

4. ISU Alumni Professional Achievement Award

a. Purpose:

The ISU Professional Achievement Awards are given for significant professional achievement by an alumnus/na in the specific field or endeavor. A recipient is selected from Pharmacy, Arts and Sciences, Education, Business, Vocational-Technical, Health-Related and Engineering.

b. Rules:

(1) The seven selection committees for these awards are chaired by the dean or the dean’s representative, a faculty member, a current student and a faculty emeritus from the school or college.

(2) Nomination forms must be completed on each candidate.

(3) The individual selected must be out of school at least ten years.

(4) The nominee must have attended at least one year at the Academy of Idaho, Albion Normal School, University of Idaho Southern Branch, Idaho Technical Institute, Idaho State College or Idaho State University.

(5) The individual must be living and should be present to receive the award.

(6) Nominations will be purged every three years after notifying the nominator of the deadline.

c. Criteria:

(1) Contributions to the nominee’s chosen career or profession.

(2) Contributions to the social, political and/or economic well being of society which exemplifies the traditions and values of their college.

(3) Community and civic involvement.

d. Tie breakers:

(1) Contribution to the University (monetary, service, vocal goodwill).

(2) Nominee’s involvement while a student.

(3) Letters of support.

(4) Other (please specify).
