Section VI. Services
G. Credit Union (Idaho State University Federal Credit Union)
ISU Federal Credit Union is a financial cooperative organized, in 1952, by Idaho State College employees. Since its beginning, the Credit Union has expanded both its services and its field of membership to encompass many areas of education and public service. As the Credit Union has grown, the basic principles established in 1952 have remained intact: encourage regular savings, provide credit at a reasonable cost, teach thrift and provide financial counseling. The Credit Union is supervised by a volunteer board and a credit committee elected by the membership.
Membership eligibility has been expanded to include University faculty, students, alumni and virtually anyone employed on campus (including concessionaires). In addition, family members, from grandparents to grandchildren are welcome. Employees of many outlying school districts such as American Falls and Preston are also included in the field of membership. Seniors 55 and older may join the Credit Union by simply joining the Senior Club (free) and depositing their retirement checks directly to their account.
3. Loan Services
A variety of loan services, ranging from mortgage loans to personal line of credit loans, are available. Most loans are disbursed the day they are requested. Loan terms are flexible and rates are usually lower than other financial institutions. Visa credit cards, automatic overdraft protection, and an occasional business loan complete a full line of loan services staffed by professional Credit Union loan officers.
4. Savings Accounts
As with loans, Credit Union savings accounts come in many varieties from basic share savings to high yield money market and certificate accounts. IRA’s and daily deposit accounts are also available; for a little extra savings at Christmas time, a Christmas Club account is available. Share draft (checking) accounts offer no monthly service charges when a low minimum balance is maintained. All savings accounts are federally insured by an agency of the federal government. Basic share accounts also include a term life insurance policy based on age and amount on deposit.
5. Other Services
Your Credit Union offers a full range of financial services to allow members the convenience of “one-stop” financial shopping. Additional financial services include wire transfer capability, money orders, travelers checks, ATM/Handibank service, free notary service, payroll deduction, drive-up window and consumer information.
