D. Student Affairs

1. Dean of Student Affairs

The Dean of Student Affairs has general responsibility for all aspects of student life on campus not under the supervision of academic colleges, schools and departments. In addition to responsibility for the Office of Student Affairs, the Dean directs the operations of the following offices and services:

a. Associate Dean of Students and Judicial Officer

b. Assistant to the Dean of Students and Assistant Director of University Housing

c. Academic Skills Center

d. Career Planning and Placement (Office of Student Part-Time Employment)

e. The Center for Health and Counseling Services (Student Health Center and Counseling and Testing Center)

f. Office of University Housing

g. Student Special Services (Trio Programs: Talent Search, University Special Services, Upward Bound)

h. Pond Student Union Building and Student Activities

i. ASISU General Manager

The ASISU General Manager is responsible for providing financial management for all associated student accounts, ensuring fiscal responsibility, preparing financial reports, and informing others of the financial standing of the association.

The position reports to the Financial Vice President with evaluation input from the Dean of Student Affairs, the ASISU President, and the ASISU Finance Committee Chair.

2. Administrative Personnel who Report Directly to the Dean of Student Affairs

a. Associate Dean of Students

The Associate Dean of Students serves as an advisor to the Dean of Student Affairs. This Dean is the University Judicial Officer. Other areas of responsibility include crisis intervention, student advocacy and chair of the Student Affairs Council.

b. Assistant to the Dean of Students and Assistant Director of University Housing

This person assists the Dean of Students with special projects as assigned and serves as the Assistant Director of University Housing.

c. Coordinator of Student Special Services

The Coordinator of Student Special Services is responsible for the operation of the University Special Services Program (Federal Trio Program) and any other auxiliary programs designated by the Dean. Designs appropriate strategies and solutions for meeting the needs of target populations.

d. Director of Academic Skills Center

The Director of Academic Skills Center administers the Reading and Study Skills program, the mathematics and English development programs and oversees the tutoring program.

e. Director of Career Planning and Placement

The Director of Career Planning and Placement provides career guidance and information to students and alumni and coordinates employer on-campus interviews. The director is also responsible for supervising the part-time and summer placement programs and the Student Employment Office.

f. Director of the Center for Health and Counseling Services

The Director of the Center for Health and Counseling Services administers the Counseling and Testing Center, Student Health Center, and Career Counseling Center; is responsible for the overall function of these units.

g. Director of University Housing

The Director of University Housing is responsible for on-campus housing facilities and the residence life program. The Director also serves as the promoter for summer conferences.

h. Director of ISU Student Unions and Student Activities

The Director of the Student Unions serves as administrator of the Pond and Bennion Student Unions, administrator of Student Activities, and as advisor for the Associated Student Government. As administrator of Student Activities, the Director supervises student operations including Program Board events, student organizations, and leadership development training designed to meet the social, recreational, educational and cultural needs and interests of the students. As Student Union Director, serves as the University Facilities Coordinator to maintain the master calendar of events and coordinates the leasing of University facilities by off-campus organizations. As advisor for the Associated Student government, the Director provides guidance to Associated Student government leaders as they work within the framework of the ASISU Constitution and University policies and procedures. The Director works with the General Manager of ASISU.

i. ASISU General Manager

j. Director of Campus Recreation

The Director of Campus Recreation is responsible for the administration of Reed Gymnasium, the Student Recreation Center, and outdoor fields surrounding these facilities. These facilities are used by student groups, academics, Athletics, and community organizations. The Director of Intramurals and sports clubs also report to the Campus Recreation Director

k. Program Development Director for the Office of Continuing Education and Conferences

The Program Development Director for the Office of Continuing Education and Conferences is responsible for the development, marketing, and logistical administration of community and professional education programs. Included in this are all non-credit programs, academic conferences, Elderhostel programs, continuing professional educational and certification programs.

l. Director of the Center for Students with Disabilities

The Director of the Center for Students with Disabilities is responsible for coordinating campus accommodations for students, faculty, and staff who have documented disabilities, per Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
