A Cross-Campus Collaborative Project Using a Web-Based Survey

Jan Crouter and Noelwah R. Netusil
This paper describes a cross-campus collaborative research project completed by students in the upper-level Environmental and Natural Resource Economics classes at Reed and Whitman Colleges. The active learning strategy described in this paper is an alternative and complement to traditional “chalk and talk” teaching methods. The project involved student participation in the critique and implementation of a web-based survey and the analysis of survey data. Combining the two small classes allowed additional research questions to be investigated, resulting in a much richer learning environment.
