Teaching Demand Relationships Using Student-Created Tutorials

The author describes how intermediate economic students can improve their understanding of demand relationships by creating demand tutorials to teach demand relationships to principles students. Students create a theoretical demand model, attempt to estimate their model using actual data, and use their results to create a demand "tutorial" using spreadsheet software. The tutorial shows a demand curve and how the surve will shift when independent variables change. The project allows the students to connect theory and practice and generates a fuller understanding of many fundamental economic principles.
