Where:    Pebble Creek Ski Area

Meeting Place:  Pebble Creek Lodge near the Ski School Desk at 1:00 pm.

Course Description:
This class will cover the fundamental skills of executing downhill turns on cross-country skis.  We will follow the PSIA American Teaching System progression.  Once everyone is comfortable with wedge and stem christie turns, the telemark turn will be introduced.  Balance, steering, edging and pressure will be emphasized throughout the class.

Grading:
Grades will be based on attendance and participation.  After missing one class the grade will automatically start dropping.  Classes can be made up the last week of class at Pebble Creek or by attending part of the Telemark Workshop.  Let Dana know how you will make up classes.

Bring the following items:

1. Metal edged skis with side cut are easier to turn:  Single camber skis with a waxable base work best.
2. Boots:  High top boots that have good ankle and lateral support.  Leather or plastic
3. Poles:  Downhill poles or aluminum cross-country ski poles.  Fiberglass poles are more likely to break.

Ski Rentals:

1. Wilderness Equipment Rental Center in the Pond Student Union;  $42.00 for the whole class.  The skis need to be back before the WERC closes or you will be charged for another day.
a. WERC has leather boats and parabolic skis.

2. Gateway Sports: has 2 to 3 pair for $14.00/ day.  NNN backcountry bindings.

** You must have safety straps on your skis.  You can buy them at Gateway or Scott's Ski Shop.
