The 21st Annual High Desert Classic Duathlon will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005. Registration forms, Waiver and Release from Liability forms, and event information are found below. Please feel free to give the Outdoor Program a call if you have any questions. 282-3912. Participants are encouraged to register early to avoid additional late fees. LOCATION /COURSE
Start & finish at Ross Park – 2901 S. 2nd
Ave, Pocatello, ID.
Take the I-15, 5th Ave. exit and head north on
5th Ave for ¾ of a mile. At Barton Rd. take a left and cross
4th Ave heading west. Look for the signs to Ross Park. This
road now becomes Fredregill Rd. At the next stop sign, take a left
onto 2nd Ave. Follow this road for ½ mile and look for the
Aquatics Center on the right.
Run course is mostly flat terrain. The run course will take you through residential neighborhoods. The bike course is a mix of hills and flat terrain. This course will take you through the I-15/Portneuf gap towards Inkom for the competitive race. The recreational race turns around just short of the Portneuf gap. This course is patrolled but open to vehicle traffic.
REGISTRATION/START TIME
Early registration ends May 6th, 2005.
A late fee will be assessed for each entry received/accepted after this
date.
Race day registration and packet pick-up from
8:00 am to 9:30 am. Race begins at 10:00 am.

All entrants must submit an entry form, forms
must be signed, and incomplete entries will be returned.
AGE GROUPS (individual competitors only)
Male & Female: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39,
40-49, 50-59, 60+
TEAMS
Team classes are male, female, and co-ed.
Teams for the Competitive & Recreational category are two (2) person,
one (1) team member for any one (1) stage & the other team member for
the other two (2) stages. Team members must submit their Acknowledgement,
Waiver, and Release from Liability forms at the same time. Individuals
without a partner wishing to compete in a team class may contact the Outdoor
Program to be placed on a “team partner waiting list.” We will do
our best to find a partner, but cannot guarantee success.
REQUIREMENTS
No drafting on bike course. Bike Helmets
are REQUIRED and are to be furnished by each competitor. (Must be Snell/ANSI
approved or CPSC Certified). Each participant assumes responsibility
for lost or stolen items. Leave equipment in the exchange area at
your own risk!
AWARDS & AWARDS DINNER
First male and female individual finisher.
First three (3) individual finishers in each age group. First three
(3) team finishers in each team class.
Results announced after race. Post Race refreshments provided, raffle during configuration of results. Computer results mailed to all finishers. Awards Dinner provided by GREAT HARVEST will follow the completion of all events and activities and will be held on-site in the picnic pavilion.

Proceeds go to support the ISU Outdoor Program
& Campus Recreation Department.
SHIRTS
All early entrants will receive a quality multicolor
T-shirt. Shirts subject to availability for late & race
day entrants.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, WAIVER AND RELEASE FROM LIABILITY (CAWRL)
I acknowledge that a duathlon, or multi-sport
event is an extreme test of a person’s physical and mental limits and carries
with it the potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. I HEREBY
ASSUME THE RISKS OF PARTICIPATING IN DUATHLONS, OR MULTI- SPORT EVENTS.
I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation
in this event(s), and have not been advised against participation by a
qualified health professional. I acknowledge that my statements on this
CAWRL are being accepted by Idaho State University in consideration for
allowing me to participate in this event.
In consideration for allowing me to participate
in this event, I hereby take the following action for myself, my executors,
administrators, heirs next of kin, successors and assigns, or anyone else
who might claim or sue on my behalf, and I expressly acknowledge that it
is my intent to take these actions: (a) I AGREE that prior to participating
in this event I will inspect the race course, facilities, equipment, and
areas to be used and if I believe any are unsafe I will immediately advise
the person supervising the event; (b) I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND FOREVER DISCHARGE
from any and all claims, losses (economic and non-economic), or liabilities,
for death, personal injury, partial or permanent disability, property damage,
medical or hospital bills, theft, or damages of any kind, which may in
the future arise out of, result from, or relate to my participation in
or my traveling to or from this event, THE FOLLOWING PERSONS OR ENTITIES:
IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY, ISU OUTDOOR PROGRAM, ISU CAMPUS RECREATION, STATE
OF IDAHO, CITY OF POCATELLO, COUNTY OF BANNOCK, EVENT SPONSORS, RACE DIRECTORS,
EVENT PRODUCERS, VOLUNTEERS, ALL STATES, CITIES, COUNTIES, OR OTHER GOVERNMENTAL
BODIES OR LOCATIONS IN WHICH EVENTS OR SEGMENTS OF EVENTS ARE HELD, AND
THE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS OF ANY OF
THE ABOVE, EVEN IF SUCH CLAIMS, LOSSES, OR LIABILITIES ARE CAUSED BY THE
NEGLIENT ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF THE PERSONS I AM HEREBY RELEASING OR ARE
CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENT ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF ANY OTHER PERSON OR ENTITY;
(c) I ACKNOWLEDGE that there may be traffic or persons on the course route,
and I ASSUME THE RISK OF RUNNING, BIKING OR PARTICIPATING IN THIS EVENT
under these circumstances. I also ASSUME ANY AND ALL OTHER RISKS
associated with participating in this event including but not limited to
falls, contact and/or effects with other participants, effects of weather
including heat, cold, and/or humidity, defective equipment, the condition
of the roads, water hazards, and any hazard that may be posed by spectators
or volunteers, all such risks being known and appreciated by me; and I
further acknowledge that these risks include risks that may be the result
of the negligence of persons or entities mentioned above in subparagraph
(b) or of other persons or entities. I FURTHER COVENANT AND AGREE
NOT TO SUE any of the persons or entities mentioned above in subparagraph
(b) for any of the claims, losses, or liabilities that I have waived, released,
or discharged herein; and I INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS the persons or
entities mentioned above in subparagraph (b) from any and all expenses
incurred, claims made, or liabilities assessed against them, including
but not limited to attorneys’ fees and litigation expenses, arising out
of or resulting from, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, (i)
my actions or inactions, (ii) my breach or failure to abide by any
part of this CAWRL including but not limited to my covenant not to sue;
(iii) my breach or failure to abide by any of the Competitive Rules; or
(iv) any other harm caused by me. I FURTHER GRANT PERMISSION for
the use of my name and/or likeness relating to my participation in this
event, and I WAIVE all rights to any future compensation to which I may
otherwise be entitled as a result of the use of my name or likeness.
I agree that the site of any lawsuit regarding
the terms of this CAWRL shall be in Bannock County, Idaho, and governed
by Idaho Law. The terms of this agreement shall continue and be in
effect after the event has ended.
Should a court of competent jurisdiction declare
any paragraph of this agreement unenforceable, the remaining parts or paragraphs
shall remain in full force and effect. A copy of this release can
be used as an original.

emergency medical technician, hospital or other medical or health care

of attempting to treat or relieve any injuries received by said minor arising
out of or relating to this event. I authorize any such Medical Provider
to perform all procedures deemed medically advisable by the Medical Provider
in attempting to treat or relieve any such injuries and any related conditions
of said minor that may be encountered during the course of attempting to
treat or relieve such injuries. I consent to the administration of anesthesia
as deemed advisable during the course of such treatment. I realize and
appreciate that there is a possibility of complications and unforeseen
consequences in any medical treatment, and I assume any such risk for and
on behalf of said minor and myself. I acknowledge that no warranty
is being made as to the results of any medical treatment.
