GENERAL ITINERARY: The workshop will leave Pocatello in the evening, on the first day and travel to the City of Rocks. The workshop will leave the City of Rocks late on the third afternoon to return to Pocatello.
GOAL: The main goal of this workshop will be to give participants an understanding of technical and safety aspects of rock climbing so that participants will have the knowledge to:
ASSUMPTION OF RISK: Like any activity held outdoors, please be aware that rock climbing is very dangerous. It is impossible to list all the dangers involved in the sport. The eventualities of injury and death are so diverse, no one can second guess everything that can go wrong. Some possible injuries can result from being hit from falling rock, falling from the rock, etc. IF YOU ARE UNSURE ABOUT THE DANGERS AND RISKS, PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS AND THEN MAKE A CAREFUL DECISION WHETHER OR NOT TO PARTICIPATE. Participation is at your own risk.
EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING: Climbing gear, Dutch ovens, and other group equipment will be provided. You may bring your own climbing harness, belay device and helmet if you own such gear. Climbing shoes will not be provided. You will need to provide your own climbing shoes. You will need to provide your own overnight camping gear.
