Nominate your co-worker for the Be A Bengal award

December 9, 2019

Since President Satterlee’s arrival, the Office of Human Resources has been starting to lay the foundation for building a campus environment and culture where TRUST, COMPASSION, STABILITY, and HOPE can be felt by our faculty, staff, and students. To begin the exploration of what this means to our campus, we launched the Be A Bengal Employee Recognition Program in May 2019, which replaced the ISU Cares Program. For the past 7 months, we have been collecting monthly nominations and celebrating faculty and staff who are helping or exemplify these characteristics for our Bengal family.

Currently, faculty and staff are recognized when a nominator completes an online form, where they  select one of the four categories below that best represents the individual they are nominating, and they share details about the situation/reason for the nomination.

  • Trust – Respect, Integrity, Honesty
  • Compassion – Caring, Friendship, Happiness, Empathy
  • Stability – Security, Strength, Support, Peace
  • Hope – Direction, Confidence, Guidance

We have heard some incredible stories so far and always look forward to learning about the faculty and staff who are exemplifying these values each month. When we receive a nomination, a congratulatory email is sent to the nominee and their supervisor. At the end of each month, we gather the nominees’ names in each category, have a random drawing, and select one winner from each category to receive a $25 Visa gift card. The winners are announced monthly in ISU Today.

To close out this program each year, all nominations (through Dec. 31) will be reviewed by a selection committee and 4 employees of the year, one in each category, will be selected and awarded this honor at a reception held on the Monday of employee appreciation week. Do you have a colleague who deserves this recognition for 2019?  If so, please click here to nominate them!
