Ensemble Settings

Workshop Description
During this four-day workshop,
several topics will be explored that
will be of interest to classroom
music teachers, secondary theory
teachers, and choral and
instrumental ensemble directors.
Included will be: a choral reading
session of multicultural repertoire,
an introduction to world music
drumming, and an exploration of
ways to utilize Dalcroze
Eurhythmics in general music
classes and in instrumental
and choral rehearsals.
Detailed session notes will
be provided.
Who should come?
This
workshop is designed for music teachers on every grade level who
are interested in improving their
teaching and rehearsal techniques,
as well as their knowledge of
multicultural music teaching and their
comfort level with incorporating world
music materials into the curriculum.
Students may register for this course
for 2 credits. They may also register
for non-credit.

Workshop fee: $130.00

before class begins, although fees
can be paid on the first day of
class. Seating is limited; you are
encouraged to register at least
one week prior to the first day of

Housing is available in Schubert
Heights Apartments at $18 per
person, per night. Linens are $4

Clinician
Dr. Sharon Davis Gratto is in her fourteenth year at Gettysburg College, where she is Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Education. She directs the Women's Choir and the World Music Ensemble, and co-directs the Concert Choir. She is the Founder/Director of the Gettysburg College Children's Choir, an auditioned community ensemble of unchanged voices.
A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, American University, and the State
University of New York at Potsdam, Dr. Gratto received her D.M.A. in Music
Education and flute and voice performance from Catholic University. She has
taught at the University of Maryland and at schools in the Washington, D.C.,
area and in Germany, Spain, and Nigeria. Dr. Gratto represents multicultural
and ethnic concerns on the boards of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association,
the Eastern Division of the American Choral Directors Association, and Pennsylvania
ACDA.
She is also the Research Chair and a Regional Director for the International
NETWORK of Schools for the Advancement of Arts Education and the Higher Education
Representative for PMEA District 7.
