College of Pharmacy
The College of Pharmacy has had a presence in the Boise Valley for more than 20 years. Eight full-time faculty and six post-doctoral residents are based in Boise. They have offices in practice sites such as the VA Medical Center, Family Practice Medical Center, St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center and Terry Reilly Clinic. They practice pharmacy and teach in the specialty areas of infectious disease, geriatrics, psychiatry, ambulatory care, medicine and pediatrics. These faculty also conduct research in various areas and provide community service to the Boise Valley in areas such as HIV, poison prevention, senior citizen “brown bag” medicine talks, diabetes, and lipid and blood pressure screening.
During the last year of the Pharm.D. program, approximately 20 students relocate from the Pocatello campus to Meridian for a year of clerkship training. Curricular changes have recently occurred so that those students will be relocating to Meridian earlier in the third year of the Pharmacy program. Classroom teaching is conducted between Meridian and Pocatello via satellite systems.
One year post-doctoral residency programs are offered at the Boise VA and Family Practice Medical Center. Options include rural ambulatory primary care pharmacy, ambulatory care, adult medicine, geriatrics and psychiatry.
