Mobility was an essential feature of the adaptation and resiliency of these people. No single location was productive enough throughout the year to sustain year-round residence; few were productive enough from year to year to sustain life (the Ft. Hall bottoms [next slide] and Dagger Falls area are exceptions); and the Native Americans were very adept at living in this environment for centuries by taking what the land offered them seasonally.
